As one of the largest Catholic universities in the world, with an average student population of 45,000, the University of Santo Tomas is a 400-year-old university rich in history and famous alumni, located in Manila, Philippines.

Famous names who have walked through the halls of the University of Santo Tomas include National Hero of the Philippines, Jose Rizal, first Prime Minister of the First Philippine Republic, Apolinario Mabini, and numerous former Presidents of the Philippines.

To upgrade the university’s audiovisual technology to match its prestige, Perfectline Marketing has introduced EZCast Pro wireless presentation solutions to the AB Department, Engineering Department, and the Senior High School Department.

Traditional audiovisual cables restrict teachers’ movement in classrooms

Professors of the AB Department have noted the existing presentation equipment contains only audiovisual cables, such as VGA and HDMI cables.

These cables are notoriously restrictive in keeping the lecturers rooted in front of the laptop connected to the projectors.

The cables mean the teachers cannot move about the lecture theater to demonstrate ideas and interact with students.

Any attempt to move around the classroom means pulling on the AV cables and risk wear and tear.

EZCast Pro presentation solutions create BYOD wireless classrooms

EZCast Pro’s partner, Perfectline Marketing, recognized the problems lecturers of the University of Santo Tomas were having and introduced a combination of EZCast Pro solutions to alleviate the problems.

  • EZCast Pro II dongles were used in large lecture theaters with multiple displays and projectors to create 1-to-many broadcasting solutions.
  • EZCast Pro first generation dongles were used in classrooms with a single projector to allow teachers to make wireless presentations from any laptop and smartphone.
  • EZCast Pro LANs were introduced in classrooms with easy access to Ethernet ports for a more stable content sharing environment.

As a result, tech-savvy professors around the university adapted immediately to the new state-of-the-art wireless presentation platform in the AB Department classrooms, and the words spread about the wireless PowerPoint presentations.

Very soon, lecturers from different departments would crave the same BYOD teaching solution available in the AB Department classrooms, and more EZCast Pro units were installed in the Engineering Department and Senior High School Department.
